About Web Wise Kids (WWK) and its Programs

WWK's research-based approach to Internet safety education can assist your school or school district to effectively meet this new requirement. Web Wise Kids (WWK) is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to preventing online child victimization by providing unique and innovative tools to help youth stay safe while using the Internet. WWK implements richly interactive Internet safety programs across the country in partnership with school districts, educational organizations, law enforcement, educators, parents, community-based youth organizations, and technology companies. The programs were chosen to be part of the federal initiative, Project Safe Childhood, and have reached nearly six million children and thousands of parents.

In response to alarming and current statistics on inappropriate Internet behavior, the award-winning, highly interactive games offer a positive, preventive, and proactive way to collaboratively engage youth, emotionally and cognitively. These games, based on real life situations, are distributed primarily through training sessions for local school personnel facilitated by WWK trainers.

Several years of data document the effectiveness of WWK games as a most successful approach for engaging students, while precipitating meaningful conversations between youth and adults as well as their peers. Additionally, success is evidenced by the increased insight and quality of the Internet safety plans completed by students after interacting with the games. Educators nationwide have expressed appreciation for how well WWK games tie in to state standards, how they incorporate peer-to-peer learning, and how easily they can be integrated into existing curricula.
